After God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot and his two daughters fled to a cave. In the 6th century AD, the site of the cave was located, and a Monastery built over the top of it with spectacular mosaics.The monastery was only abandoned in 9th century after the Islamic invasions, but it has now been re-discovered and magnificently excavated.
